1955 was my favorite year and the first year for the Thunderbird, and this one was absolutely gorgeous.
It’s less glamorous compared to the Thunderbird, but this SL 55 AMG still does something for me, especially in that color and with those wheels.

Mars Red, uncommon color for those. My local dealer recently had a Mars Red 04 SL600, I am sure maintenance is easy-peasy on that.
I like the color matching steering wheel on the T-Bird.

It’s interesting to me how literally three years after the intro of the Thunderbird, it was a mini-Lincoln made in the Lincoln plant. And, perversely,
slower
than the Lincoln. Might be the fastest transformation of a car from one thing into another ever.

The gauge housing was also that color and the inner part of the seats was a plaid with that color, black & white.

Yup. I just saw another equally mint ‘55 in traffic, dark silver with a red interior and a continental kit. Equally gorgeous.

Any way to tell what year this particular SL55 is?

I think year-to-year changes were very subtle on these, but I am 99.9% sure this is an 03-06 model.
